I'm reminded of how great that cast was once again. Yellowjackets probably gets an A- for me, just because they missed some very minor continuity details, and also because I lived through that time and remember exactly what people were wearing or listening to during that time. This was, by far, the weakest part of the show, though, and those moments of exasperation were few and far between.
Kid Shauna and kid Taissa blew me away, and I'm already a fan of Lynskey from her work on Castle Rock (and here I go one more time with another recommendation if you haven't seen it yet- two VERY good seasons of this show exist and are WAY worth watching).
These kid actors are incredible for sure. And for once I don't have dissonance in casting bt the adult and young versions of these characters - everyone somehow pulls this off very well and they all seem like the same people. I agree about the 90s stuff not being fully cooked, but it's funny: Stranger Things made my kids appreciate 80s music; now YJ can help us with more interest in the 90s (slightly) but waiting on the Nirvana.
Ok, Castle Rock then! Never enough hours in the day!
Ahhhh I read this twice. Thank you firstly for taking on my recs and your lovely mention here. This book left a mark. I avoided it initially bc I still have ptsd from new motherhood, but I fell into the audiobook and let it devour me. Im not a dog person, and I have feelings about the family cat sitch, but I related so much to her dissolution as Mother, and despised her utterly useless and clueless husband (god I HATE the benign neglect of modern supposedly feminist men). I really want to see the movie, which was directed by a mother who seems to share similarities with Nightbitch, dog transformations not included.
It really does leave a mark. So raw and disturbing. Interesting about the director too. I do want to see this as a film though of course I'm glad I have initial (richer?) mental images from my own imagination.
It’s fiction I don’t read. Well at least that which is overtly fiction. I am commenting upon a tribunal decision against me at the moment. It is fiction much like Kafka.
Amy Adams seems like a great choice.

I agree about the kids/adults: they really nailed it w/the casting overall. Very good picks.
Castle Rock: yes! Holy crap.

Don’t think I’ll be reading it. I have dogs 🐶, Shi Tzu, one of them caught a ducking recently. She let it go unharmed.
oh you'll be missing out! give it a spin, at your risk ;)
I’m not sure what you will make of this but I haven’t read a novel for decades 😊
Oh that's ok, I thought you meant MY essay! Reading is on the fritz sadly.

Any kind of reading is great, and glad the duckling made it out intact!
