Perfect piece for this moment. Biden doing what he did, the way he did it, and the energy it created when Kamala took the baton... I've never seen anything like it in my life. I don't think any of us have. These last string of weeks have been shattering, and inspiring, and exhausting. I hope things calm down a little so I can sleep and recover a bit.

Completely, an amazing week. I can't imagine the other path if not.

Thanks for this post. I helps to clarify the difference between exiting gracefully and giving up.

Thank you, Krista, for not only educating us about the term"stand down" and how it has become the moniker for an invaluable veterans' support organization, but also for your powerful praise of Biden's "standing down." His action, his speech and his articulate, warm-hearted and straightforward talk to the American people were what we needed then and now more than ever. Readers of The Indy, appreciate your informative research - giving us a sense of the tradition of "passing the torch" with grace and dignity to a younger generation. I'm so pleased and gratified that you featured Biden's speech at The Resolute Desk as a feature in THI.
