I'd like to make up great words that stuck around too, but don't really do that much of that sort of thing. Thought of some related words to fantods, if not the howling variety: the yips, the heebie jeebies. In meditation and Buddhisty stuff they talk of "monkey mind," which is also related. "Howling fantods," however, brings the meat.
