I do like to collect glimmers, and find many in the sky while running or walking or driving (safely of course). I love catching moments of beauty like murmurations of birds and clouds.
My initial reaction to the idea of "glimmer" as a new concept was to push back a little mentally, to suggest that the word "trigger" still does this and doesn't need to be negative, but then I remembered the power of language itself.
I get a lot of little glimmers every day. I think writing is more or less my personal way to express these things. Every now and then, I stop and feel that sense of wonder, and I know I've got something.
that would be interesting to explore - when did the word trigger become co-opted by the idea that it's only the negative way. And it's so overused. But yes, these word moments of wonder are rare and glimmerous!
I think the far right may have had a lot to do with it. For many, it's a fun game to minimize and make fun of another person's suffering, so I think the "triggered" meme deliberately tries to minimize human rights struggles, that sort of thing that they regard as mere whining.
This could be a longer piece, but also very... ahem... triggering!
"Finding that phrase in writing, or hearing a song lyric, that makes me gasp"
Yes ma'am:
"There is a reminder built into them of their demise, of our temporary nature, vulnerability, delicateness, weakness. That, like life itself, this too shall pass. Not a candle flame ongoing but more of a match."
There's a lot to consider here about how moments of joy are precious in part because (and maybe this is only for those of a certain mindset) the purity of the joy is so quickly tainted by a recognition that the moment is fleeting. While your ice cream cone will taste delicious, your cold taste buds will not be able to fully convey the flavors the way they did on that first lick -- so savor that first taste!
Where did you get that coffee mug? I need one of those LOL.
I have a few. They were sold at maybe the second Oktoberfest we ever had here. Would love to see if anyone has more kicking around
Glimmer. Patrice Pike at a house party. Google her. She is an amazing artist that married Kristi and I
Cool, will look!
Thank you for the glimmers, Krista. I loved hearing the crows (I love crows). So peaceful somehow.
Glad you watched, I love them too

A glimmer is the word “murmurations”!

I thought of you when I--shout out to Brian--threw in again a tempest tossed ;) I like how you put that as well and, bonus, with ice cream!
