Who knew there were so many poultry artists?

My brothers and I would call dibs on who got to break the wishbone when we were kids at thanksgiving. We had to patiently wait a day or two till my grandmother deemed it dry enough for the tradition to take place. There were three of us so calling dibs first and second was a big deal. I don’t remember what I would wish for, probably toys? Thanks I have not thought of this memory in quite sometime.

By coincidence this holiday, my meaty cousin when pulling apart the turkey carcass (that I did not eat) handed me the wishbone. I had just written this so I was excited! I waited a few days and tried to wish with a friend but it’s totally still bendy. I wondered if turkeys might also grow more durable bones? I’ll try again later! Glad to stir a memory

My memory is fading, I asked my brother and he let me know that we did have to wait several days for the bone to dry out before competing for our wish, come to think of it I do remember asking multiple times, if it was ready yet? The bone was placed in a glass in the windowsill probably with purpose to dry it out quicker from the sun. Your right on track!

Happy Thanksgiving and lucky wishing! Loved the art. Will be opening cans of southern-style vegetables (there are good ones) and heating up some Costco ham with my dad, then watching the game. We're keeping it simple these days.

Thank you! Enjoy simple times with your dad! We are currently in a ramshackle caravan to Trumpville CT relatives that includes my ex, kids and two sickly foster kittens. What could go wrong?
