Come in! I’ve been running around in here like a madwoman (follow that arrow to find me) preparing my new online digs for you, moving over some junk-drawer treasures from my old Tumblr blog so it’s not so empty (explore the Archive), assembling furniture, hanging curtains. And the theme:
HOME|BODY: introvert's outreach | midlife-climate crises | kitchen-sink creativity
What’s that all about? Well for me, everything begins and ends in the home and body. Those are the containers within which my rubberball spirit bounds around, body in house, brain in body. I’m generally very happy here but it can get lonely. My writing is a way I leak out, though I’m shy about it, and admittedly, having kids and jobs and 1,000 other excuses has had me a bit lapsed for over a decade.
Ouch. But this newsletter is my means to challenge myself, to recommit to a regular writing practice, and to outreach on my own terms, ultimately building a community who might care if I offer up something useful, inspiring, interesting, and may even matter from time to time.
I feel an urgency, because, well: let’s face it, we’re getting older and the earth is dying, so what are we going to do about it. There’s that multi-faceted crises part of my subtitle but, lucky for me, I find that all rather invigorating.
Future post: midlife crisis or best time of my life!?
Future post: define “crisis.”
Future post: what are we going to do about it!
If you know me you know I’m extremely resourceful and diligent. I think I’ve lost the plot (as a fiction writer, I mean) for so long because I really enjoy getting off my ass and away from screens and making stuff out of nothing or doing bold things I have no business doing like ripping out all my gas lines. Maybe I can share some of those things with you here.
Future post: off-gassing, a guide to going green.
The color of the moment though is red. My power color. I wanted to get this out on the 13th, on the eve of the VDay. I used to throw Bloody Valentines parties on the 13ths with biting booths and 7 minutes in hell. Themes are very important. The shape of a story. And sometimes the stories are just for fun.
I hope you enjoy this theme party I’ve created here; I’m so glad to have you.

Well, hello, hell yes I will read this newsletter, and I hope we can catch a glimpse soon! (I think dinner here with us has been on the docket for aeons!)
