I'm reminded of a story a friend, whose uncle was a brain surgeon, told. Uncle Eddy, like my friend, struggled to keep his mouth shut. Anyway, a visiting big shot brain surgeon was performing surgery in one of those public situations with an audience of doctors. Uncle Eddy was assisting. Because the brain has no nerve endings it's not necessary to use anesthesia, and the doctors like the patient being awake. So this operation was going on, the bigshot with his little vacuum sucking the diseased brain out of the fully awake man's skull. And it went on and on, much longer than Uncle Eddy was comfortable with. Finally, when he couldn't take it any more, he blurted out, "Well, there go the memories of 1946!" The bigshot was so incensed he grabbed Uncle Eddy and pushed him out the door yelling, "Get out of my operating room! Get out of my operating room!" The interesting POV for my taste would be the guy getting operated on hearing all this.

That's crazy how you can be awake for this most terrifying brain stuff, let alone be the assistant. Good ol' Uncle Eddy! (At some point, I have to do a post about trepination, but ugh)
